Who was Rick Meyer?
Rick Meyer was a dedicated father, coach, athlete, and friend. Rick was an incredible physical therapist, a loving partner, and an attentive father. He lived a humble life and put others before himself, a true healer at heart. Rick knew how to make you laugh, calm you down, and get you to focus. To know him was to love him and to be in his close circle was a blessing.
The Rick Meyer Athletic Foundation Story
In 2021, Rick passed away from complications due to COVID-19. In his memory, we had the idea to create a foundation. After some thought about how we could keep his memory alive, we landed on the idea of a scholarship for club athletes. Rick played volleyball and baseball and was extremely involved in his kids' club careers. He coached at Hanover Diamond Sports for years, putting in many hours after practice to help his athletes improve their game. Rick was an avid volleyball player his entire life and often was an unofficial athletic trainer at all the tournaments he attended to watch Ballyhoo play. Rick's connection to both these clubs and his two children is what inspired the Rick Meyer Athletic Foundation. Our family was extremely blessed to be able to afford club tuition for both teams, so we can only carry on Rick's love and provide athletes the opportunity to play at the club level.
Our Values
Rick led a simple, humble life. He wasn't flashy or selfish. The athletes we select are dedicated to their sport, practice good sportsmanship, and are leaders on and off the court/field. Respectful athletes who are disciplined are selected by our board and coaches at the respected clubs to represent Rick Meyer and his values.
